Scientific Name: Basella alba.  Common name: Ceylon Spinach. This is a vine grown in tropical regions around the world as a leaf vegetable.  The leaves and young shoots are used as a food source and prepared and served much like ordinary spinach. Said to be excellent treatment for anemia, tiredness, constipation and poor nutrition. The leaves can be eaten raw or cooked. It is also called Malabar Spinach - a really great vegetable widely used here in Central Ameria. There are both green stem an red stem varieties. It normally grows on the ground, but if tied or wound around a support will grow even better like a vine.

This item is a special value packet of fifty (50) Basella alba 'Ceylon Spinach' seeds (the green stem variety), to be delivered upon receipt of payment.
