Scientific Name: Eugenia uniflora. Common Name: 'Surinam Cherry'. This is a beautiful large shrub or small tree that can sometimes grow to 20 feet high. Native to tropical America. The leaves are glossy green, up to 4 cm long, and new leaves are copper-colored. Fragrant white flowers mature into reddish fruits up to 2 cm in diameter. Extremely popular fruit throughout its range and is eagerly consumed by children, birds, and wild and domesticated animals. Easy to grow from seed. The Surinam Cherry is often used in gardens as a hedge or screen. The fruit is high in Vitamin C, and its predominant food use is as a flavoring and base for jams and jellies. In Belize, the fruits are used in making local wine and it makes tasty pies, too.

This item is a special fruit collector's packet of twenty five (25) Eugenia uniflora 'Surinam Cherry' seeds, to be delivered upon receipt of payment.
