Scientific Name: Hylocereus undatus. Common Name: Pitaya, Pitahaya, Dragon Fruit and is sometimes called Queen of the Night or Night Blooming Cactus. This is a terrestrial or epiphylic cactus with fleshy stems that grows by clinging, by means of aerial roots, to a support structure. They are night-blooming with big white flowers and the fruit is known as dragon fruit or pitaya and is edible. Native to Tropical America but commonly cultivated in dry tropical or subtropical regions for it's delicious and attractive fruit. A robust and hardy plant that will need plenty of space. It is easy to grow from seeds.
