Scientific Name: Citrus sinensis 'Valencia'. Common Name: sweet orange. 'Valencia' is the thin-skinned juice orange grown commercially in California and Florida. It is the most widely planted orange in the world. Fruit are medium large, few seeds with a moderately thick peel. Fruit color, juice color, eating and juice quality are excellent. Easy to grow from seeds. It can be trained as a unique bonsai subject. The tree remains a manageable size and it makes an excellent landscape plant that is easily cared for. It makes a unique ornamental container plant that can be quite showy tropical but can be wintered indoors in colder regions.
