Scientific Name: Murraya paniculata. Common names: 'orange jasmine, Chalcas, Satinwood'. Beautiful flowering small tree that is easy to grow from seed. Has dense dark green foliage and sweetly scented waxy creamy-white flowers that have an intense orange blossom fragrance. Always seems to be in bud or flowering pretty much year round. Native to the Southeast Asian tropics but is widely cultivated throughout the tropical regions. It is easily grown from seeds. The yellow colored wood is of commercial value in Asia and the dark green leaves are used in flora arrangements. Useful as a hedge plant. Can be trimmed to form a tree or heavily pruned into animal shapes (topiary). Can be grown as a container plant. Can evenbe trained as an indoor bonsai.
