Scientific Name: Spathodea campanulata. Common names: African tuliptree, flame of the forest, fountaintree, fireball, Gabon tulip tree, fire tree. This is one of the most spectacular flowering trees in the world. A fast growing tree that can reach up to 50 foot tall and puts out brilliant displays of glorious bright orange scarlet flowers. Native to the rainforests of Equatorial Africa but has been widely planted throughout the tropics and has naturalized in many parts of the Pacific. It is easily grown from seeds. It is an excellent xeriscape plant that is drought tolerant and easily cared in the garden or landscape just needs sunlight and space. May flower year around depending on the weather.
