Scientific Name: Canna indica. Common name: Indian Shot. A nice ornamental Canna native to southern Belize and other parts of Central America. A stunning plant with large tropical-looking leaves and redish pink colored flowers. Used as a landscape item it will make a nice focal point to give any tropical or subtropical patio or courtyard a taste of the tropics. Easy to grow from seeds, and like most cannas if sown early and given generous treatment, it will probably flower the first year. Not cold hardy but can be grown in colder regions where rhizomes should be dug up and stored over winter. Scarify seeds and soak for 24 hours before sowing.
