Scientific Name: Artocarpus altilis. Common name: Breadnut. This is a beautiful tropical fruit tree that can grow to about 40 to 50 foot tall. A beautiful landscape tree in tropical regions and produces a valuable edible fruits. The leaves are large, multi-lobed, extremely beautiful, and frequently used in decorations. Fruiting occurs almost continuously in many tropical areas. Breadnut trees are widely cultivated and used commercially in many tropical countries. This is a close relative to the breadfruit tree that Captain Bligh carried from Tahiti to Jamaica in 1793, introducing the breadfruit to much of the Americas.
