Scientific Name: Pithecellobium arboreum (aka Cojoba arborea). Common name: wild tamarind. A beautiful fast growing tree that should make a great bonsai project, house plant or a landscape addition. Native to Belize, Southern Mexico and Central America. It is drought tolerant and easily grown from seeds. Listed as 'Pithecellobium arboreum' in the "Flora of British Honduras" The wood of this tree resembles that of the Mahogany, however, it is heavier and probably superior in strength.
