Scientific Name: Erythrina rubrinervia. Common name: 'Coral Bean'. An attractive tree that has bright red tubular flowers in terminal clusters. Native to southern Mexico (including Yucatan) and Belize.. It can grow to about 25 ft (8 m) tall and is an excellent trouble free landscape tree. The seed pods twist open when mature and provides an unusual display of bright red seeds. It is easy to grow from seeds and is widely cultivated in the tropical areas as a ornamental landscape item.
