Scientific Name: Dorstenia contrajerva. Common name: 'tusilla'. A species of herb in the Moraceae plant family which is native to Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and South America. It is a beautiful little plant that is easy to grow from seeds and is commonly cultivated in the tropics as a garden ornamental. It likes moist but well drained soils and a sunny location. Works great as a border plant. This plant is rarely available from nurseries, garden stores and other plant dealers and distributors. It is a respected medicine plant in Belize and is commonly used as a cold remedy and for the treatment of snakebites
