Scientific Name: Anthurium schlechtendalii.  Common name: Bird's Nest Anthurium. A beautiful foliage Anthurium native to Mexico and Belize. This is an exotic tropical plant that is widely grown for its beautiful leaves. Easy to grow from seeds    and makes an excellent container plant that is easily cared for. In native region this is a rainforest medicine plant that was commonly used by the ancient Maya culture in Central America to treat pain and swelling in muscles and joints, rheumatism, backaches, etc. The Maya indians in Belize still use the leaves in their steam bath rituals.
